A Collection of My Favorite Health and Fitness Podcasts

Podcasts have been on the rise in popularity for a few years. There is a podcast for everything now from animals to music. Today, I am going to break down the best mental and physical health podcasts I have found.

Hurdle

Airing every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with host Emily Abbate, Hurdle podcast focuses on talking with individuals who have overcome barriers and hard times by finding and incorporating fitness into their lives. Some of the guests on the show include athletes, the creator of TRX and the co-founder of Headspace. They share their experiences and insights on how they overcame their battles.

The Rich Roll Podcast

If you are looking for motivation, look no farther then Rich Rolls. Rolls is an ultra-marathoner and sits down with health experts, artists, and professional nutritionists and helps listeners become motivated and be the best they can be.

Ted Health

Ted Talks are some of the best ways to get information in a small timeframe, so it only makes sense that their podcasts are top notch. Though they talk about big ideas, the podcast is easy to listen to and perfect for anyone who wants to know more about health.

The Mental Health Happy Hour

Comedian Paul Gilmartin takes a look at depression and how it is affecting the creative community. He sits down and talks with other comedians, writers, doctors, and artists about their experiences. The show is a place where many guests openly discuss some of the traumas they have and can’t express anywhere else.

The Model Health Show

Every week host Shawn Stevenson takes a deep dive into health and fitness. But not the kind you learn about in school he says. Stevenson goes beyond what books say and uncovers some of the best health information in the world. If you are looking for a deeper dive that is still creative and fun, this is the podcast for you.

The Happiness Lab

The Happiness Lab is a podcast that shows you that happiness is in your control; even if it is in the smallest ways. Host Dr. Laurie Santos is trying to help her listeners find their own happiness. She uses the link between human behavior and emotions to help you harness happiness. Her class at Yale University is one of the schools most popular, so if that doesn’t persuade you then I don’t know what will.

The Hilarious World of Depression

As one of the most common mental health conditions, of course there is going to be a podcast about it. In my opinion, this is the best. Host John Moe interviews public figures with depression to show his listeners that depression can take many forms. If you are managing symptoms this podcast is great for you as Moe gives tips to cope with depression.

Inside Mental Health

Aiming to make mental healthcare more accessible, host Gabe Howard talks to celebrities and experts about their experiences with mental health and how to break down the complex topic. This podcast teaches listeners about the newest ways to think about mental health and some of the stories on traumas, fears, and recovery.

Mind Pump

If you are looking for a podcast more related to fitness, Mindpump is the podcast for you. Hosted by Sal Di Stefano, Adam Schafer, and Justin Andrews, Mindpump teaches listeners all about fitness, from guys with 40 years of experience in the industry.

20 Minute Fitness

If you are in a rush, this is the podcast for you. All of your health, nutrition, and fitness information is jam packed into a 20-minute podcast. The podcast goes over the latest scientific findings in fitness and health, the latest fads, and even debunks numerous health and fitness myths.

These are some of the best health and fitness podcasts out right now. I definitely enjoyed them, and I hope you will too!
